The ETERNALS premiere rolled out the blue carpet with a full takeover of Hollywood Blvd with talent and filmmakers, livestream stage interviews, character costumes on display, and cosplaying fans in Marvel Studios’ biggest premiere of the past two years, on October 28 in Hollywood.
Talent included the film’s stars Angelina Jolie (in a rare appearance with her five children), Selma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, and Richard Madden as well as filmmakers Kevin Feige, director Chloe Zhao, Victoria Alonso, and more. Other Marvel directors attended to show support, including Taika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok) and Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi).
The film is being praised for its stunning visuals, visual effects, diverse cast, and themes of connection to each other and the planet.
The premiere livestreamed on Marvel Studios’ YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Watch the 94 minute YouTube replay. It was presented by Lexus, which provided cars for the premiere.
Immediately after the premiere, press and attendees tweeted high-level impressions on the film in advance of the review embargo date. Most impressions were overwhelmingly positive, complimenting the beautifully epic scenery and landscapes by Oscar-winner Chloe Zhao (Nomadland); actors Kumali and others, and the visual effects which bring the Eternals powers and world to life.
Many also said that Eternals really opens the door to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe in new directions.
