The Grove annual’s treelighting ceremony featured performances from Lindsey Stirling, Andy Grammer, Rozzi, with Santa, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, host Molly Sims, a huge fireplace stage, and fireworks on November 18.
LA Mayor Eric Garcetti opened with welcome remarks.
Following opening remarks by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Councilman David Ryu, the show kicked off with a rousing performance of Winter Wonderland by JD McCrary. Amongst the show’s all-star acts included heart-warming renditions of holiday classics such as Rozzi Crane & Parson James’ Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, O Holy Night from Pia Toscana accompanied by David Foster on piano, You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch by Lindsey Stirling and Daya performing her chart-topping hit Don’t Let Me Down.
Multi-platinum artist Andy Grammer rounded off the evening with an electrifying set featuring Keep Your Head Up.
Special guests at the show included Katherine McPhee, Sara Foster, Jennifer Meyer and Caruso Founder & CEO Rick J. Caruso.
Over 25,000 Angelenos gathered for the show-stopping finale which featured Santa Claus’ arrival at The Grove, spectacular fireworks, the season’s first snowfall, and – of course – the lighting of the over 100 foot-tall Christmas Tree. The majestic fir, which stands taller than the tree at Rockefeller Center, will glow with 15,000 sparkling lights and over 10,000 vibrant ornaments throughout the holidays.
The event was produced by Mirrored Media, which produces events including more than 20 activations at VidCon over the past two years. Mirrored Media added the huge fireplace stage over the fountain this year, providing a cozy set for the evening’s performances. The 16′ Grove Fireplace that Santa appeared out of was surrounded by dozens of large oversized presents.
Mirrored also hired the house band run by Nick Rosen, and booked the evening’s talent. In addition to The Grove, Mirrored produced the American at Brand tree lighting ceremony at the Grove’s sister location in Glendale.
Mirrored Media CEO and founder Justin Lefkovitch recently spoke about creating engaging experiences at our Digital LA – Immersive Activations panel.
Marking the start of the holidays, the event was co-sponsored by BMW. Caruso is proud to partner with Uber as official rideshare partner. Riders enjoyed a dedicated pickup and dropoff at the property’s Circle Valet off The Grove Drive.
